What Does Elevated PSA Level And Enlarged Prostate Gland Indicate?
Question: Had urinalysis on routine checkup. RBC was 32. No symptoms of anything. CAT Scan showed slightly enlarged prostate gland, but blood test had 0.59 PSA. SHOULD I WORRY?

You have mildly increased PSA level.In your age PSA level is considered raised if it is 4ng/ml or higher.
Besides prostate cancer PSA also increases in other benign conditions like prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate gland) or Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
You need proper clinical examination(Digital rectal examination).It should be correlated with PSA finding and if needed biopsy can be done.
It is important for me to know to know that whether mentioned RBC value is related to urine.If there are RBC in urine (hematuria)then you need further evaluation for it.
You don't worry at all and you should consult urologist.Most probably mildly increased PSA level is due to benign conditions.

Dr. my PSA was 0.59 not 5.9. My PSA has been 0.5 for the last 15 years and the 32 RBC was from a urinalysis.

Sorry for confusion.Your PSA is within normal limit,so you don't require any further investigations.
But RBC in urine should be taken seriously.As CT Scan has been already done then calculus is excluded which can cause hematuria(blood in urine).
Urinary tract infection is also unlikely as you don't have symptoms like burning micturition.
Other causes like papilloma in urinary bladder should be ruled out.You should consult urologist for detail workup regarding hematuria.

Kidney calculus can't be the cause for hematuria as CT scan has been already done.CT Scan is the investigation of choice for diagnosing renal calculus.
You are taking blood thinners so,it can be the reason for hematuria.The international normalised ratio(INR)should be evaluated in patients who are taking blood thinners.So,you need proper evaluation.
