What Does Dull Ache Near The Ribs That Radiates To The Back Indicate?

Question: I just have one question, if I may.
I've asked before, but it's not that easy to get time off of work...

Everytime I eat some something, there's a dull ache under my right rib that will sometimes radiate through the back or go slightly higher than the rib. If I apply pressure to the painful area, it subsides, until pressure is relieved. It will also last for sometime (one to three hours). I was told I have fatty liver disease, probably due to me being overweight (29 yr old male, 5'8", 230lbs). I had an ultrasound done a while ago which was how they found the fatty liver. I should also mention that I had my gallbladder removed, so its not that direct organ causing this.

Does this sound like fatty liver or something more serious like cirrhosis or cancer? Just need to know what might cause this pain everytime I eat.

Brief Answer:
Hi XXXX, this pain of yours can be due to two things

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, this pain of yours can be due to two things. If it follows a fatty meal (which I am sure you would have been advised against) it may be due to excess bile being produced by liver to digest this fat, that has no where to be stored as your gall bladder has been removed. But more likely possibility is duodenitis ( inflammation in first part of intestines called duodenum) due to acidity. This can result in pain on the right side of abdomen below ribs radiating to the back. Please try taking a soft diet along with an over the counter liquid medicine for acidity which also has an anaesthetic in it--2 teaspoonfuls three times a day before meals. If you improve, you have the answer. The only way to confirm the diagnosis is with a Gastroscopy. You can revert back to me. Regards
