What Does Delayed Menstrual Bleeding After Taking Plan B Suggest?

Question: Hi. I had protected sex may 20th but the condom broke. I took the plan be pill around eight hours after. Its been over a month and I have yet to receive a period. I did have mild bleeding a week later...maybe three days but was very light. I had bleeding two weeks from the date of sex but it was only when I wiped..and was also light. I've taken about 4 pregnancy test throughout different times of the month and they all were negative. I'm growing concerned. Could I be pregnant or is my cycle irregular from the plan b pill? My cycle is usually normal lasting about seven days...about 28 days apart. Help!

I have gone through your question in detail. Chances of you being pregnant are not there as plan B is a very reliable emergency contraceptive. Morever, all your tests are showing absence of pregnancy. So don't worry about pregnancy.

Regularity of menstrual cycle depends on hormone balance in body. Plan B or any hormonal contraceptive disturbs this balance. This imbalance is a factor behind your irregular period. Body takes time to correct this balance, sometimes upto three months. However if it is troubling you much, you can go for hormone study and ultrasound scan to come to a exact diagnosis.

So you have to wait few weeks more.
