Brief Answer:
benign in many cases, further tests are detailed mammogram, biopsy

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Calcification of the breast refers to small areas of calcium deposits in the breast. They show up as small white spots on the mammogram.

They are usually benign in the majority of women though, in some cases, they can indicate that there is cancer of the breast.

Since they are most commonly benign, this means that it is quite possible that they are benign in your wife's case as well.
It is possible for the radiologist reading the mammogram to get an initial idea of whether the changes are benign or due to cancer but this has to be confirmed by other tests.

Further tests may include a more detailed mammogram and/or biopsy of the area involved.

These additional tests would be able to help determine if further treatment is needed.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
