Hi XXXX

I have read through your query in detail.
The mention of the following lines is not normal.

"BILATERAL PERIVENTICULAR LEUKOMALACIA WITH DEEP MATTER VOLUME LOSS

ATROPHIED CORPUS CALLOSUM

HYPOMYIELNATION OF CORTICO AND SPINO THALAMIC TRACTS"

It says about certain changes in brain which may cause neurocognitive deficits. though myelination varies according to age and needs to be matched.

You may please attach a copy of the complete report and tell me the reason why MRI scan was asked for your child at 9 months.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
A C-reactive protein (CRP) blood test is used to identify inflammation or infection in the body. This CRP is a protein molecule which is released before the symptoms of inflammation are seen in the patient. The CRP is not always specific but gives and idea of the conditions the patient may have.

In my opinion there are certain changes in the brain which have taken place and are not reversible. I will be glad to read the reports as mentioned earlier.

It would be helpful if you can tell me if the baby had any major illness since birth and if there were any birth related complications.

The reports may be attached with your query in the space provided and it will reach me. If you are not able to do it yourself then please contact YYYY@YYYY for any problems regarding your problems and they will help you.

I have no control over closing your query and only you can do that. In case of difficulty please contact customer care for the same including payment issues.

Waiting for updates from your end.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek

Brief Answer:
Brain developmental problems

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your attached reports.
There are certain changes in the brain which are causing delayed growth in your child. These might have occurred possibly by birth or just after birth. In simplest terms the further brain development of your child has not taken place in normal way and this is showing as delayed growth and learning.

You have done the right thing by approaching a neurologist and getting MRI scan done at 9 months. Your child can lead a near normal life if you start taking care of her problems right now and follow your doctors advise regularly. She needs more supportive care and family support to grow up in a better way.

Research is going on in the area of stem cell transplantation which can help patients like your child in future but still not available in XXXXXXX

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek

Brief Answer:
Better to take second opinion on brain development

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

Following is a list of activities what most babies do at this age (9 months):

Social and Emotional
May be afraid of strangers
May be clingy with familiar adults
Has favorite toys
Language/Communication

Understands “no”
Makes a lot of different sounds like “mamamama” and “bababababa”
Copies sounds and gestures of others
Uses fingers to point at things

Cognitive (learning, thinking, problem-solving)
Watches the path of something as it falls
Looks for things he sees you hide
Puts things in her mouth
Moves things smoothly from one hand to the other

Movement/Physical Development
Stands, holding on
Can get into sitting position
Sits without support
Pulls to stand
Crawls

Any deviation from this list may be alarming.

MRI scan brain findings in babies changes rapidly till 1 to 1.5 years of age because of brain development. As per the report there are some areas which are showing mild changes which can explain the delayed growth of your baby. At the same time normal brain development in children can take place few months later in some infants and in this context he may be right. But since doing complete brain function assessment is difficult in babies, its best to take a second opinion in another well known hospital in XXXXXXX or New XXXXXXX

The other tests are almost normal except that the blood hemoglobin is slightly below normal. This can be easily corrected by giving proper healthy and nutritious foods.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
