Posted on Fri, 25 Jul 2014
Question: Hi I have been to the ENT twice already and have had my throat checked with a scope up my nose. I have a lump in the back left side of my throat next to the back of my tongue. It sticks up and looks like a flap its rihjt under my tonsil almost runs back do2n the throat. I can c it and feel it. The doc said it was lymphoid tissue. I have had this for about 10 months now and I have a constant globas sensation. I now have swollen glands on the left side of my neck. The doc told me it would go away on its own and it has not grew in size butbis still there. How do I get rid of this? Im scared thinking I have cancer. Please help this is killing me

Brief Answer:
Reduce stress, lymphoid tissue-Biopsy

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for the quiery..

Since already you have visited ENT specialist,, and he has told you that it is lymphoid tissue.. I think your fears can be put to rest....Since you do not have complaints regarding recent weight loss, pain on swallowing and during having food..I very much doubt it is cancer..
Having said that i suggest you go for biopsy of that area and send it for histopathological examination to confirm and to reduce your stress...

Regarding the swollen glands on the left side of neck could be tonsils or lymph node,, for that home remedies include salt water gargle and drink warm water.. If you have fever and pain on swallowing on left side the you will need antibiotics and analgesic under the guidance of your treating doctor..

Also since your anxiety levels are more, to reduce it you must try yoga and meditation..

Practice good oral hygiene care by brushing teeth twice daily and clean tongue with a soft brush gently..

Hope it helps,,take care

doc thank u. I have already taken antibiotics like 3 times and no change in the lymphatic tissue. I try to ignore it but theres always a constant feeling of something there's. I think it is rubbing on something else in my throat. There r 3 lymph nodes right next to each other almost the size of marbles swollen on the left side of my neck almost roward the back of the neck. Same side as the lump in my throat. This has been going on for almost a year....can I get this removed? Will it ever go a away?

Brief Answer:
lymphatic tissue-biopsy, ct scan or mri

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Thanks for the follow up.

I believe lymphatic tissue could be biopsied...

Firstly get a complete blood test done, including bleeding time and clotting time.. Also get a ct scan or mri scan -since soft tissue problem is there...and it is bothering you since a year almost...

Try applying topical anesthetic spray or ointment to that irritating area...after the anesthetic effect has worn off, try examining whether same irritation is present... Either ways consult a ent for check up and treatment ...especially for biopsy and scan...

Hope it helps..take care...
