Question: I slipped and fell and hit my knee about 6 weeks ago. The pain is gone but I now have a hard lump just below my left kneecap. Should I go get an x-ray?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to Health Care Magic.

Thanks for writing.

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad. I have read you question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.

I am pleased to know that every thing stayed fine and you are doing great know.

Actually its out body's repair mechanism that when a bone gets hit hard and some portion of it gets damaged it is repaired by applying extra bone matter on it and then it remodels and withing a month or so (depending upon bone) goes back to previous shape.

I guess your patellar bone might have got damaged and it's been repaired by this pricess this swelling might remodel in some weeks.

Other possibility is, after trauma some tendon may get damaged and then some extra bone or calcium deposit may form there this might also be the case.

In both cases you don't need to get an urgent X.ray yes in anual checkup or some meeting with your doctoe you can discuss it.

Or if this creates any problem in future you can discuss with your doctor.

Otherwise in my opinion things look just fine.

I hope this answered your question. If you have more queries I am happy to answer.Otherwise rate and close the discussion

Regrads.
