What Doe A Round Itchy Rash On Hip Indicate?

Posted on Mon, 7 Apr 2014
Question: I have an itchy rash in a silver dollar size area on my right hip that has been there for 6 months. The bites/bumps are few, and tend to come and go, always in the same small area. I have treated it with neosporin to no avail. Alcohol seems to make it less itchy for a day or so. It never itches at night. Sometimes the bites go away, and no itching for days. I treated the area with permethrin 2 times, 2 weeks apart. It seemed to help, but came back. I have no other bites or bumps anywhere else on my body for the last 6 months.

Sorry, I don't know how to upload a photo. It is not scaly, and the bumps move around in the small area. The old bites darken and heal, the new bites are small and red. Anywhere from 1-3 at a time. Not always itchy, but get more itchy when I scratch them. It almost disappears for a week or so if I don't touch them. But then one day it will itch so much that I find myself scratching again. It never itches at night.

Brief Answer: Upload pic Detailed Answer: Hi. There is an option to upload clinical pictures on the page. OR else you can mail me on my email YYYY@YYYY . For fungal infection you have to use an antifungal cream e,g clotrimazole cream for 2-4 weeks An OTC antihistamine e.g cetrizine would help you symptomatically with the itch. regards

I am working on uploading a photo. Also, I have some miconazole nitrate 2% anti-fungal cream... would that work, and should I try that first??
