What Do Yellow Patches On Tonsils Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Feb 2015
Question: For the past couple of months, been dealing with yellow patches on both tonsils. No sore throat or pain in throat has occured. Used a q-tip to swipe up the yellow patch. On q-tip it looks hard. When I touched it, it was soft and smushy. When I smelled it, it had a funky odor to it. Then the yellow patches would come back again. Never had that before. Very concerning. Also experiencing sinus issues. Having little headaches, little pressure, and when swallowing feels like something in throat or on throat. On right side of tonsil, side of right neck and right ear area sometimes get achy or feel a little numbness in area. My back has bern achy. No severe pain. Just achy pain on both sides that come and go. The achy pain runs up and down on both sides. what I'm experiencing is concerning me. Please advise.

Brief Answer:
you are having a throat infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello

From your description it looks like that you are suffering from an infection of your tonsils called as chronic follicular tonsillitis.

This is generally due to bacteria and i would advice you to meet your ent doctor for the prescription of the same.

I would also like you to start gargling with warm salt water 2-3 times a day and avoid using q tips for scratching the tonsils.

The aches on the side of your neck are likely to be due to enlargement of neck nodes/glands , which is common in a tonsil infection and will come down once the infection of the tonsils subsides.

Please dont worry and meet your ent doctor for confirming this and a prescription of antibiotics..

Take care!
