Dear Dr. Kakkar,

Thanks for your immediate respose.

It has been on the middle finger of left hand for more than 8 years, recently similar spots started to appear on both the hands and face (very small spots).

I have attached the pic of the same.
Mother is also having white spots (very small, not visible directly ) on the leg and hand.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Need more Images of other affected areas

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I have reviewed the Image. I can see faintly white, ill-defined patches of hypopigmentation.

In these Images the patches seem hypopigmented unlike vitiligo patches which are totally white/ devoid of all pigment i.e de-pigmented.

This could be either an early vitiligo i.e previtiligo Or it could also be post-inflammatory hypopigmentation.

I would prefer more Images of other affected areas, if you can upload?

If I was the treating doctor I would have asked him to use a mid potent topical steroid e.g mometasone furoate 0.1% cream once daily over the patches.

Regards

Dear Dr. Kakkar,

Thanks for the update.

The spots are very small in size and very diffucult to captue in the pic. It has started from the fingure and slowing now on face (6 -7) which are not visible easily.

Do you prefer to visit dermatologist or try to use the steroid cream as suggested by you?

Brief Answer:
It is important to confirm the diagnosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

To me these patches look more like early vitiligo.

Moreover, since new lesions have recently appeared on other areas of body, therefore, I suggest a visit to a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis before trying any treatment.

If it is related to vitiligo then of course topical steroid i.e mometasone furoate 0.1% cream, is one of the treatment options.

Another topical treatment modality that is effective for treatment of vitiligo is topical tacrolimus ointment.
