Brief Answer:
further evaluation is must for bleeding per rectum

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I can understand your concern for blood in stool.
1) Spots or streaks of bright red colored blood on surface of stool indicate anal canal related problem i.e. anal fissure, hemorrhoids.
2) maroon colored foul smelling blood in stool indicate possibility of bleeding episode from start part of large intestine or at very last part of small intestine.
3) Typhoid fever can cause ulcers in last part of small intestine and if this complicate further then bleeding may occur from such ulcers which cause maroon colored stool. This require evaluation with colonoscopy and correction of hemoglobin in case of severe bleeding inside intestine. Such bleeding stop by its own with medical treatment.
4) If bleeding is due to anal fissure then simple physical examination is sufficient and it can be treated with medical treatment.

It is important to find source of bleeding with physical examination, colonoscopy, CT scan (if required) to give appropriate treatment.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you.
Have a nice day!

Brief Answer:
general surgeon and then medical gastroenterologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I apologize for late reply.
You should first consult family physician or general surgeon to rule out anal fissure. If this is ruled out then you must consult medical gastroenterologist.
