default
Posted on Mon, 31 Aug 2015
Question: I was suspected to have mild asymmetrical iugr during my pregnancy. I have attached both my last scan reports. I have delivered a healthy baby boy at 36 w4 d. Birth details are Weight: 2.75 KGlength: 48 cm and HC 32 cm. He didn't face any complications post birth till date

At his one month check up his weight was 3.6 KGS and head circumstances was 33.5cm. Which has child specialist said was pretty good growth. My question is my son still be considered an IUGR baby? and if yes is he anticipated to have any physical or neurological development delays or restrictions that are mostly seen in IUGR babies?

No,Your baby is no more an IUGR baby

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for asking on this platform

It's really good to know about the growth of your baby.
As I remember I have mentioned in your previous query that according to the weight, height and head circumference your baby does not fit into the criteria of IUGR.
I would again repeat that don't get overly worried and don't run behind the fetal ultrasound report.
The estimation of fetal ultrasound is not very accurate even when done by a good so no logistics.
It's the birth weight which decides whether baby is an IUGR baby or normal one.
I agree with your doctor. The growth at one month is pretty good and I really appreciate your way of care.
I would again say that you need not to worry regarding the future physician and neurological development.

I hope this helps.
If you have any more doubts please let me know.
Wish your baby a good health.
Regards
