What Do These Heart Rate Of 54 And BP Reading Of 98/63 Indicate?

Question: I am a 64-year old male and have been taking Metoprolol 25mg twice a day since 1984. My doctor added starting today Madiplot 2.5mg twice a day and Diovan 20mg in the morning. As I am now have a diabetes, too I take Glucophage XR 750 ( my glucose 2 hrs after a meal range from 109-125. However, I just took my blood pressure and heart rate and they were 98/63, pulse 54. Is this within the safe distance for me.

But taking your age in to consideration further drop in blood pressure and heart rate is not acceptable.

It is advisable to monitor your heart rate and blood pressure closely.

There may be need to decrease the dose or to stop metoprolol or madiplot after discussing with your doctor.

Blood pressure
- Systolic 100 to 140.
- Diastolic 60 to 80
Heart rate 60 to 100.
