What Do These Following Blood Sugar Levels Indicate?

Question: Hi,

My wife is 14 week pregnant.
Her sugar level are past 1 week are
Fasting 75-85
1 hour post food=135-150

Previous weeks fasting level were same but 1 hour post lunch were 125-135. Do she need to take insulin??

The fasting blood sugar level of your wife is within the normal limits while the postprandial level is raised. This calls for observation and diet modification.

She needs surveillance by a specialist along with regular fetal monitoring. There is no need to put her on insulin now. If the hyperglycemia persists at 24-28 weeks of gestation, treatment is initiated.

HbA1c can be measured meanwhile to see if there is any risk.
