Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the ultrasound reports.

Although we do not have the actual 2008 scan report, it appears unchanged in 2011 compared to 2008 according to the radiologists' comments.

However, we have definite nodule sizes in 2015 and 2011. Comparing these two, the nodule has reduced by 60% in size i.e.in 2015, it is less than of its 2011 size.
This is generally considered a good sign.
The detailed 2015 report further describes the nodule characteristics as favouring a benign nature.
There are several features of a nodule on ultrasound which help assess its chances for cancer. The 2015 report is a good description of the nodule and has only one feature associated with thyroid cancer i.e. 'hypo echoic'
The vast majority ( 92 to 95%) of thyroid nodules are not cancer. In addition to ultrasound evaluation it is also important to take into account 'clinical' risk factors such as:
1 Do you have any family member with thyroid cancer?

2 Were you exposed to upper body radiation to the head/neck area such as radiation treatments for some upper body cancers?

3 Do you have any neck pain or difficulty speaking/ swallowing/ breathing or change in voice/hoarseness?

I have a brother that also has a thyroid nodule, no history of tyroid cancer in the family no radiation treatments other than a head ct which was normal and no pain in neck area no difficulty speaking no change in voice and breathing is ok so you are saying the nodule has shrunk is that correct? Do you recommed a fine needle aspiration or just keep monitoring it

Detailed Answer:
I have noted your replies.

So you do not seem to have the conventional risk factors for thyroid cancer.

Yes the nodule has shrunk.

Regarding whether or not YOU should have a fine needle aspiration versus just monitoring, will require a joint decision making between you and your endocrinologist in person. This will give your doctor an opportunity to examine you thoroughly.

When I see someone with your type of profile in my practice, I offer them all choices including no action and even surgery. However, if the nodule characteristics are similar to yours.I would be okay if they chose to only monitor periodically with ultrasound.
