What Do The Following Blood Test Result Indicate?

Question: Hi I had a blood test which signified target cells 1+ and anisocytosis1+I am healthy and never had this show up on auto differential before. Not sure if manual diff done in past. Last test about 3 was before pretty close to normal (auto diff). What would cause these to appear? I was getting over a virus when I took the test.

PS-was diagnosed with Hemoglobin C

So target cells and anisocytosis refers to variation in size of cells and indicatedms some nutrional Deficiency likely iron deficiency anemia or rarely thallesssemia. You will require iron studies to confirm this. Serum ferritin test is also required. Please revert back with reports.

Iron is normal. Dr. suggested possible but unlikely thalassemia trait. What does that mean?
