What Do Raised Spotty Red Rashes On The Arms And Legs Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Feb 2017
Question: I am a 56 y.o. Caucasian male and I have recently developed a raised, spotty, red rash on my arms, legs, extremities, abdomen and back. It is not painful or itchy but unusual. I occasionally get eczema on my arms, ears or face due to allergies and sometimes get rosacea on my thigh but this is completely different. Thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Either eczematous rash or drug rash or viral exanthem or sarcoidosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have reviewed the attached photograph and their are few possibilities: either eczematous rash or drug rash or viral exanthem or some specific skin disease like sarcoidosis.
What is the duration of the rash?
Are you having any other ailments or taking any medicines?
Are you having recent history of fever, sore throat, bodyaches, joint pains?
Regards
Dr Asmeet

Thanks for your reply.
I have had the rash for about 5 days now.
I am not on any meds, haven't had any food out of the ordinary, etc.
There are no other ailments. I feel fine otherwise.
I haven't been ill lately and seldom get ill. When I do I have a fast recovery.
This is something totally new for me.

Brief Answer:
Eczematous rash most likely, cortisone cream

Detailed Answer:
It looks like an eczematous rash most likely.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily for 10 days.
In case it doesn't improve in 10 days consult a doctor and get it examined clinically.
