Question: Hi, I am aged 34 years and weigh around 78 kilos.

My lipid profile is as follows ( I took it after 90 minutes of the breakfast meal)

1. Total Cholesterol: 194
2. Trigylceride: 214
3. LDL- 108
4. HDL- 43
5. VLDL- 43

I unfortunately don't workout and quit smoking recently.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Your lipid profile is not bad, the only thing, triglyceride level is slightly elevated.
In your age you have low cardiovascular risk, so nothing to worry.
I would advise you to exercise much and cut the amount of sweets.

Take care

Doctor,

Thanks much for your prompt reply- I actually had stopped working out.

just so to add, I also had elevated uric acid levels earlier (circa 7 or 8)- had gout flare-ups three times in the past 2 years.

Do you reckon I need to be long-term medication to reduce the uric acid level- I drink lots of water nowadays. Have also found that certain foods trigger uneasiness(like lamb, anchovies etc).

Welcome back

Detailed Answer:
Keep your diet, drink much water and exercise.
You should discuss with your doctor if you should take medications for gout.
For lipid profile there is no need for any medications.

Wishing you good health

Many thanks Dr Lilit.

Would weightlifting/body building help reduce the triglycerides- I am not much of the aerobic/treadmill bloke hence my query. How many minutes of physical activity would deem good- I used to strenuously workout around 120 minutes years ago.

Of late, I have begun consuming Apple Cider Vinegar (one with the mother)- do you reckon this helps in alleviating triglycerides and elevated uric acid?

Thanks again for your reply.

Brief Answer:
Welcome back

Detailed Answer:
Aerobic/treadmill physical activity will be more useful. 40 minutes physical activity everyday, or once in two day will be OK.
Apple Cider Vinegar could be helpful, you can try it.
