Question: On Tuesday night, I began feeling really bad. Bad pain in the left side of my head, achiness, and overall feling bad. Wednesday morning, I broke out in a rash that is a series of small bumps on my upper left arm. My face started itching, and I began having ear pain. My glands became swollen. My headache was better, but this morning, it began hurting again, and the rash is still present. My glands are not as swollen now. I am just concerned as to what this could be.

Is someone working on my request?

Brief Answer:
Please send me an attached picture of your upper left arm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you writing in healthcare magic.

Based on your symptoms, I think that this could be herpes zoster located in your upper arm.
But in order to define better the diagnosis I need to see an attached picture.

I hope my answer helps you.
Regards.

This is actually my husband who is having the issues. I am his wife, XXXXXXX He worked all night, so is sleeping now. I can't send you the picture until later today. But, I just went on and looked at the photos of herpes zoster, and it looks nothing like his rash. His rash is small reddish bumps that are in his left upper arm and have spread across the upper part of his back. Along with this, the glands in his neck have been swollen, but the swelling has gone down some. The upper left part of his head has hurt very bad, at times. Those are his three main symptoms...oh, and also, his ear has been hurting bad, at times. Is herpes zoster the same as chicken pox?

Dr. Dede,
I am ready to send you the pictures now. Are you ready to receive them?

I just sent the requested photo (I actually sent three). Can you please look at them and give us an assessment?

Is anyone seeing this?????

Brief Answer:
I think that could be just a viral infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for writing back.

I have seen carefully the picture and I think that this is not herpes zoster.

Based on your husband's symptoms I think that could be just another viral infection. If these last more than 3-4 days I suggest excluding a sinusitis, an ear infection, a strep throat and an allergic reaction (contact dermatitis).

I hope my answer helps you. Feel free to ask further.
Regards.
