My son is 18 months old now. What could be the composition of a good diet for him? He is having one egg and around 100 gm of potato. Is it good to give an egg everyday?

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Your son should have at least more than half of what you (mother) is consuming.

He requires around 100kcal/kg/day. Simply speaking he requires energy dense food. So addition of oil or ghee to his diet is important.

If he is basically a rice eater then dal should be added so that all the amino acids are covered. Encourage him to have plenty of fruits and vegetables.

He should be almost eating what elders in the family are consuming (minus spices etc)

Yes egg can be given every day. It is XXXXXXX in proteins. He should be encouraged to eat along with the family and to self feed. Do not give him low fat milk or excess salt or junk foods. Avoid food colors.
You should continue to breast feed till the age of 2 years.

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
