I have a few questions regarding PCOD treatment using contraceptive pills.
1. What contraceptive pills would you recommend for balancing hormones for PCOD patent?
2. Is XXXXXXX or Yasminelle anything you would recommend?
3. There has been some articles regarding the increased risk of venous thromboembolism in XXXXXXX and Yasminelle, what are your thoughts on this?
4. Would XXXXXXX or Yasminelle be suitable for a patient with long QT syndrome (LQTS)?

1 &2. To balance the hormones in a PCOD patient the oral pills preferred are XXXXXXX or Yasminelle. Ethinylestradiol/drospirenone combination is preferred over all other available oral pills due to its anti androgenic effects. Drospirenone, in conjunction with EE, acts to suppress gonadotropins.
3. XXXXXXX or Yasminelle are safe and effective, although it slightly increases the risk of blood clots in the legs or lungs; this is a rare complication in young, healthy women who do not smoke, but it is more of a concern in women who are obese and in older women.
4. Its use is associated with Long QT syndrome but since the benefits outweigh the risks involved this is being safely used in PCOD.
