Question: I was just diagnosed with gallstones. I was afraid to eat so all I hasve been eating for the past 8 days was jelly and toast and lots of water. Last night and today I had yellow diarrhea is this ok or should I be very concerned? I have an appointment with my surgeon on Tuesday Sept 22 should I go sooner?

Brief Answer:
If you have pain, fever, severe nausea/vomiting,then,go to ER...

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

I understand your concerns.

1. You are saying to have been diagnosed with gallstones. Can you please provide more details on the symptoms you are currently having?

Usually, patients are complaining of pain and nausea. Are you having the same problems or other issues too?

2. Yellow diarrhea is a common symptom of gallstones that are complicated with cholecystitis (gallbladder inflammation/infection).

3. If you are having unbearable pain, fever and vomiting that do not allow to feed well; then, should go to ER or schedule an immediate appointment with your surgeon.

For the moment, continue with diet changes until you see your surgeon.
All the best!
