What Causes White Spots On The Tonsils?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Jan 2017
Question: I have white spots on my tonsils and my left tonsil is black at the top. Unfortunately I live in Poland and i only want to go to the doctor if I absolutely have to. I do not have a fever but I am having trouble sleeping because of the pain. Should I try gargling salt water for a few days first or go to the doctor immediately?

Brief Answer:
Acute follicular tonsillitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to HCM and thanks for putting up the query
As per your complaints it seems to be acute tonsillitis..the white spots are due to infected follicles and blackening is probably a blood clot..
Best would be if u can send me the pictures..it would be helpful for me to suggest you in a better way..
Pain in throat is also due to inflamed tonsils.
If i would have similar patient in my OPD i would have given tablet amoxyclav 625 twice daily..
Tablet diclofenac plus serratiopeptidase combination twice daily
lozenges
hexidine gargles
all medicines are available only on prescription.
Contact me again with your pictures and if possible also get a throat swab done from tonsils.
Wishing you a speedy recovery
Thanks and regards

Brief Answer:
Acute tonsillitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
i have seen the attachments..the tonsils are badly infected and enlarged..there is oral candidiasis also..
Take all the medicines i prescribed you..along with these, use candid mouth paint 4 to 5 times a day..it will take few days but you will be fine very soon.. You can use lozenges for quick symptomatic relief..
It is always good to get exexamined but if it is not possible at the moment, u can take the medicines..
If possible get a throat swab done..
Wishing you a speedy recovery..
