Brief Answer:
Suggest a blood test to confirm/rule out an infection first

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I would first recommend a blood test to rule out/confirm a stomach infection that could have been caused from consumption of food or drink that was contaminated, during your trip.

I recommend the test first, because we should avoid medications at all cost during pregnancy, unless really required. So only if she has an infection shall we think about prescribing antibiotics, without that we should not experiment with any medications.

But as she is pregnant, a hormonal cause could also be considered, but as your doctor thinks this is not due to the pregnancy then we should respect that as well. But I would still recommend the use of doxinate (doxylamine) which can help treat nausea or vomiting that can be caused during pregnancy. She can take up to 3 tablets per day, if this helps her, then the cause is pregnancy-related.

If it does not, then she will require a blood test and will have to be treated accordingly. I hope I have explained things in a manner best understood by you. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Pls visit your gynaecologist first and only with her permission initiate

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

If it is indeed a stomach infection then she will require antibiotics, but please understand that I do not recommend using any of the required medications without consulting with her gynaecologist first.

As you must know, each medication can result in side effects during pregnancy and so I would not recommend using them just because I give you the list of medications. I first recommend scheduling an urgent consultation with her gynaecologist and only then go ahead with the medications I am listing below:

+Ofloxacin 200 mg 1 tablet twice daily for 7 days
+Ranitidine one tablet three times a day for 7 days
+Plenty of water
+Probiotics as much as tolerated

I am emphasising once again for you to please first consult her gynaecologist and only then initiate these medications. Please do not hesitate to write to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
