Brief Answer: Likely to be due to improper burping Detailed Answer: Namasthe Welcome to Healthcare-Magic Greetings of the day Dear Mr XXXXXXX Being a parent myself , I understand your concern and apprehensions. The most proper and appropriate feed for your baby is exclusive breast feeding till 6 months of age. Putting hand in mouth is not the cause for vomiting. Following are the signs/clues which tell the baby is hungry 1. Licking of tongue and tongue movements 2. Staring at breast 3. Licking of finger and hands in mouth 4. Crying: This is last to occur and one should not wait till crying occurs. Feed when you notice the previous signs Cause of vomiting in your child could be due one of the following reasons 1. Wrong method of feeding: Feeding in sleeping position, using artificial feeds, using a artificial feeder with the nipple having larger hole 2. Improper burping 3. Allergy to feed The most likely reason could be improper burping. I would like to know additional information 1. How long the baby was exclusively breast feed 2. After birth when was breast feeding initiated 3. Any issue of decreased breast milk output 4 Is it the first baby 5. Reason for starting artificial feeds 6. How often is the vomiting, what is the colour, does the baby vomit out the whole feed given or is it just little quantity. Does he vomit after every feed? 7. Do you burp after feeds? It would be very useful if you could provide this additional information for me to able to guide you further. Take Care Best Regards DR Deepak Kishore MBBS,MS,MCH Consultant Pediatric Surgeon

Brief Answer: Similac advanced will be good Detailed Answer: Namasthe Dear Mr XXXXXXX I would advise you the following things and i am sure will be beneficial 1. Latch the baby to breast: Even if there is no milk output, latch the baby to breast, it will stimulate breast to secrete milk. Even if the baby gets few ml out of it its worth the attempt. Also rule out cracked nipple/inverted nipple as the cause of decreased output. Do latch it to breast for 10-15 minutes before giving external feeding. This will be beneficial in two ways, it will remove the habit of putting hand in mouth and will also promote milk output. 2. Artificial feeds: I would recommend Similac advanced or Similac 1st stage infant nutrition supplement. 3. Right feeding technique: Feed the baby in sitting position with bak supported. Do not use feeder , instead feed using paladay or watti & spoon. Paladay will be easier. let the baby swallow slowly. Once the baby has satiety, burp the baby by placing it on shoulder, nose free from any obstruction. Burp for 10 minutes everytime after feeds Go through this video for demonstration of burping technique https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m50PTFmmlxw 4. Swaddling the baby: After a stomach full of feed and having burped the baby, it will be helpful if you could swaddle the baby. This will be helpful in preventing hand sucking. Do not rock the baby, say a lullabay to soothe the baby. put the bay to sleep placing a soft pillow under the shoulder and a proper support for head so that head is slightly higher up to prevent regurgitation. 5. Feed on demand and do not force feed: Force feeding may provoke reflux and vomiting I would also suggest the following to promote lactation in mother 1. Tablet Lactare thrice a day 2. Shatavarex powder 2 sppoons in cup of milk thrice a day. 3. Good hydration and nutrition of mother. I would also suggest following recipe for mother whcih will improve her output Ingredients needed: Ghee( 2 spoons), Whole wheat flour ( 2 spoons) , Pista( 50 gms), Cardomom ( 6 in number), Almonds( 50 gms), Khajur( Dried dates 50 gms), water/milk In a pan pour 2 spoons of ghee, heat it, add 2 spoons of wheat flour (Atta), cook it till golden brown on low flame till its slightly golden in color. Add 2 Cups of water or Milk and keep stirring it continuously making a thin water paste( same like sira consistency). To this add powdered mixture of rest of ingredients grinded in mixer ( pista, almond, khajur, cardomom). Supplement baby breakfast with this recipe, and also can be consumed at night when mother is hungry. I hope it helped Do get back to me for any other query Take Care Best Regards Dr Deepak
