Brief Answer: Could be reflux or allergy Detailed Answer: Hi Thanks for writing to healthcare magic. From your description the following would be my possibilities. 1) most likely looks like gastro esophageal reflux. Because the cough is more in the night after dinner, it suggests reflux of some contents along with gastric juice. This stimulates cough receptors and she is bound to have cough and vomiting because of cough induced increased presuure in the abdomen. I usually treat such patients with lanzoprazole 15 mg twice daily before food for atleast 2 weeks. Also better to take limited diet at night and well before bed time. 2) allergies. Allergies are more in the night because bodys defence against allergy is least in the night. You can get her tested for allergies . Skin test or IgE test will tell you if she has any allergies so that you can avoid them. Wishing your kid speedy recovery. Regards Dr Arun
