Question: suddenly I do not see every letter or number during writing or reading. They are just not thgere. My Optometrist says my stable dry AMD has nothing to do with it, because over the past 12 months thgere is no change in my vision, accoreding to 4 visiits during that time. What do you think? It is difficult to write with this condition! Far vision :no problem Fred

Brief Answer: Further eye examinations are needed... Detailed Answer: Hi there, I have gone through your medical history and feel sorry for the situation you are in. At the same time, I am happy to know that you are still doing 30 min brisk walking at your age (85). I congratulate you for this. With regards to your vision's problems, I'd suggest to consult an ophthalmologist (doctor specialized in eyes problems). Besides checking for vision, I'd suggest to check for: - intro-ocular pressure - fundus occuli (back of eye, retina) - monitor blood pressure and heart rhythm when you have vision problems in order to understand what is causing vision problems to you. Until the results, I advise not to focus for too long on near objects. Hope it helped! Let me know if you have further questions! Dr.Albana

Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately this was already more or less checked by my Retina Specialist but without any related findings. He thinks it is more a problem with the communication between brain and eye. Before I see a Neurologist or other Specialist (expensive and long waiting time) I was looking for a second opinion to make sure I will finally meet the best Specialist for this problem. As an economist I am still very bussy, but this condition makes a correct work almost impossible and it drives me cracy. Excuse mistakes in this letter, due to my problem. Fred

Brief Answer: Following simple exercises for hard-working eyes.. Detailed Answer: Hi back XXXXXXX Thank you for choosing HCM to get a second opinion. If the retina specialist stated that there is no problem except for communication between brain and eye, then, nothing to worry about. To my opinion, all the vision problems you are facing are due to focusing too long in papers or working on a computer. As you say, being an economist keeps you busy working with papers and figures. I usually advise my patients with the same problems as yours to take breaks when working and look at far distance as best exercises for the eye vision. You can do the same and let me know if you have improvement as my patients did. Drinking plenty of water and eating healthy can also improve your symptoms. All the best! Dr.Albana
