Brief Answer: AS BELOW Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for writing to us with your health concern. UTI seems more likely as yeast infection would not cause significant pain while urinating. Also, I assume you are menopausal, so it is likely that you have atrophic vaginitis, wherein the tissues of the vagina become dry and friable due to hormonal deficiency, thus leading to trauma, pain and abrasion, particularly during intercourse. This predisposes to infections too, so any infection can be superimposed on this. It is not wise to self medicate or recommend any OTC products as without zeroing in on the diagnosis, empirical treatment can worsen symptoms. It is best to consult a gynaecologist and go for internal evaluation - per vaginum and per speculum plus a vaginal swab . A urine routine microscopy and culture also should be done. Specific treatment should then be begun. Right now, drinking lots of water will help. Using lubrication during sex is a must. All the best Please feel free to discuss further.
