Brief Answer:
ATROPHIC VAGINITIS IS LIKELY

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Since when are you having the vaginal burning ?
Why were you on hydrochloride ?
And why was ciprofloxacin and azithromycin given when UTI was not there and vaginal tests were negative ?
What has been the testing done so far - I would recommend an internal exam -per vaginum and per speculum and a vaginal swab and culture.
At your age, it is common to experience local hormonal deficiency, because of which the tissues become brittle, fragile and easily prone to burning, spotting, itching.
This condition is called atrophic vaginitis.
PLease use lubricants during sex.
Use plain lukewarm water to wash the genital area, avoiding any kind of soap, gel, douches, cleansers etc.
Wear cotton underpants and change often.
Antibiotics might aggravate such burning if taken indiscrimately..
Just use cold compresses and aloe vera / chamomile gel if the above tests are normal.
IF atrophic vaginitis is confirmed on examination by your doctor, then local estrogen creams work best.
All the best.
Please feel free to discuss further.

Vaginal burning over 1month. Hydrochlorothyizide for high blood pressure. Don't know why azithromicin was given.told heart doctor about burning, gave kidney test ,showed slightly elevated Bun. He said I was dehydrated and stopped the hydrochlorothyazide. Sorry spelled it incorrectly in first correspondence .had these symptoms years ago when taking high blood pressure meds. Then burning only lasted two days. Could that possibly have anything to do with it? I will request those test. Thanks

Brief Answer:
HAVE WORKUP AS SUGGESTED.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
I do not think that the burning you had years ago is related to this.
This time it is more likely to be due to the atrophic vaginitis as I mentioned.
Please have the workup as suggested.
Take care.
