default
Posted on Mon, 16 Feb 2015
Question: I have been period or blood spotting off and on . I had my period 2 weeks ago and started spotting again today. I dont know if this may be due to menopause beginning or not. No pain or any other symptoms. I am currently taking antibiotics for bronchitis but this spotting has happened a month ago also when I was not on meds. I am also asthmatic.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to many causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The mild blood spotting that you are having is less likely to be due to menopausal hormonal changes and more likely to be due to a uterine or cervical cause like uterine polyp, cervical dysplasia, chronic cervicitis, cervical polyp, vaginal bacterial infection, dysfunctional uterine bleeding. etc.
To find out the cause, you need to consult your gynaecologist for doing a PAP smear and a lower abdomen ultrasound scan.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
