Posted on Wed, 21 Jun 2017
Question: Hi my wife is now 13 week 2 days pregnent . At around 7 weeks shw had a red bleed for around 30 mins and stopped . We went to hospital and had an ultrasound . Doctor assured us every thing is fine and there was a strong heart beat of 173 . Now at around 13 weeks we had an NT scan baby measured fine and there is no risk of downs sindrome . But there was an sch measured 4cm by 1cm . Doctor said take it easy and she can resume working . My question is is that fine of having an SCH around uterus ? Do we need to worry about our baby ? Do she need to continue bed rest ? what are the chances of miscarriage in this case ?

Brief Answer:
Follow up scan after a week

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
Bleeding in early pregnancy can be due to subchorionic hemorrhage.
So, the SCH she is having is most likely developed at the time bleeding in first trimesters.
This SCH is not harmful for the fetus, if it is not increasing in size.
Moreover, rest for one week should be taken and a follow up scan should be done after a week to check for the size of SCH.
If decreasing in size, then she can resume the work.
Chances of miscarriage are extremely low if the size is decreasing.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

from 10 weeks till 13th week her SCH size remains same . it didn't decreased nor increased . from past 4 weeks she is on rest only . I don't know why it was not getting absorbed . if it is not getting absorbed do we need to worry about it's size ? or it will absorb slowly up to 20 weeks ?
