Brief Answer: Please, reduce the dose and not stop the drug! Detailed Answer: Hi and thank you so much for this query. I am so sorry to hear about this unstable blood pressure. The diastolic of 75 is normal and there is no reason for you to be worried about. When the blood pressure drops too low in a known high blood pressure patient , the fist reflex is to reduce the dose of medication and not completely stop it. This is because a drop often signals over treatment and not that the client can now go without medications. Stopping the drugs all together would lead to an increase in the blood pressure again. This is exactly what happened to you. Propose to your doctor to reduce the dose because you most likely need a lower dose and not to be taken off medications completely. This is also supported by the low values that drop to as low as 94/60mmHg. If the heart continues to behave funny when laying down, please do an EKG for the electrical activity of the heart to be evaluated. This may signal a problem with the rhythm of the heart. But, because this only occurs at times especially when laying down, it may be due to positional change and adaptation by the heart rather than an intrinsic problem with the heart's electrical system. In all, please reduce the doses an do not get off this medication for best results. Also consider getting and EKG to assess the functioning of the heart. I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications should need be. Dr. Ditah, MD.
