What Causes Unilateral Pain And Numbness In The Buttock Radiating To The Leg?

default
Posted on Mon, 29 May 2017
Question: I am having pain and numbness starting in my right buttock/hip and going down the outside of my right leg. It gets worse when I am standing. I can feel heat coming from the area. When I sit down the pain subsides but I have a felling that I am sitting near a heat source, as my hip area gets hot. This all started about a month ago. Seems to be getting more pronounced. It is affecting the way I walk.

Brief Answer:
this could be because of slippped disc or spinal canal stenosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi , I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
In my opinion you are suffering from nerve compression , most likely to be from spinal canal , either as slipped disc or spinal canal stenosis. I suggest you start pain killers ,muscle relaxants, pregabalin + methycobalamin and get a MRI of L S Region.
Use of Lumbar belt may also help you temporarily.
Thanx for the question. Please feel free to ask any other question.
