What Causes Trouble In Urinating And Lower Back Pain?

Question: My son is having trouble urinating and has pain on both sides plus lower back pain. He just received a Catscan with no results. The pain is constant. What could be the problem. No blood, no cloudy color and no smell however there is little urinate present.

Brief Answer: Probably your son is having some renal problem. Detailed Answer: Hello XXXX Thanks for writing to us Your son need proper clinical examination and investigations.You should consult urologist. From history it seems that your son is having some renal problem.CT Scan is not the investigation of choice for screening. Symptoms may be due to Urinary tract infection,Renal parenchymal disease etc.However other causes should also be excluded. It is important to know about fever,edema,puffiness around eyes etc. Firstly he need investigations like Routine hemogram,Urine RE/ME,Serum urea & creatinine,Blood urea nitrogen,GFR(Glomerular filtration rate),Serum electrolytes(sodium,potassium,calcium,phosphorus,bicarbonate,chloride level),Random blood sugar(RBS),Liver function test(LFT),Lipid profile,,Ultrasound of abdomen.Further investigations can be done if needed.Urine output chart should also be maintained.
