Brief Answer:
Possible diagnosis: Trochanteric Bursitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic,

Pain originating from greater trochanter could most possibly be due to trochanteric bursitis. Trochanteric bursitis is the inflammation of the Trochanteric bursa, which is a fluid-filled sac.

Management of trochanteric bursa is detailed below:
-Take adequate rest
-avoid activities that put stress on your hips like jogging
-Apply ice to relieve pain
-Continue Meloxicam

It is also important to get an X-ray of Hip joint done, to rule out underlying arthritis as a cause for pain. Please be advised to follow-up with a primary care provider/orthopedician to get an x-ray done.

Sometimes in the case of chronic symptoms, a steroid injection into the joint is also tried.

In future, recurrent episodes of trochanteric bursitis can be prevented by
-Weight loss, if needed
-Physical therapy to strengthen muscles
-Wearing comfortable shoes
-Using a cane to support your hip while walking, if needed

Hope I was able to answer your question
