What Causes Tingling Sensation While Urinating, Back Pain And Sciatica?
Question: For the past 4 days, I have had a tingling sensation when I urinate. I used to have bladder infections but have not had one in probably 20 years. I am not sexually active and it's not like any uti I've ever had. It doesn't burn and I don't feel the constant need to go. Feel pretty normal in between. Sometimes I think I'm going more often but then I tend to worry about physical things and I'm hyper focused on it. A few times, when I've been distracted, I've gone quite a while without urinating and it hasn't tingled. So I'm confused. I started straight cranberry juice a couple of days ago and I always drink alot of water. Yesterday I panicked because I had back pain but it's better today. Also, when I had it, I felt it in my butt and it radiated like sciatica and was affected by movement. If I wasn't focused on the other, I would have been sure it was that. I exercise alot and have had spasms or whatever like that before. So should I assume that was a coincidence? I had exercised somewhat more vigorously the day before. Also, the pain was not related to or intensified during urination. I am a 63 year old woman with no underlying medical conditions that I know of, other than anxiety and a tendency towards hypochondria.
Brief Answer:
Kidney stone is possible.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Your symptoms sound like a kidney stone which is passing down. This is why it is much different than regular uti. Back pain is quite characteristic for this issue as wall as pain radiating to the butt (this happens when stone passes the nerve).
Exercising can trigger stone move, especially if you have been jumping or performing similar to jumping exercises.
Taking cranberries juice and drinking lots of water is a good idea. Please continue that. If the symptoms will come back, you should consult your doctor and have urine analysis and abdominal ultrasound done.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

The pain was not bad and I could push on the exact spot in the butt which is where it seemed to radiate from. Also, it was aggravated by arching or bending a certain way and relieved by stretching forward, just like back strain I have had before. Doesn't sound like any description of kidney stone I have ever heard before. The symptom that continues is mild tingling sensation when urinating and shortly afterwards... More back towards the vaginal area actually.
Also it did not come in waves as has been described

Brief Answer:
It still can be a stone.
Detailed Answer:
The problem is that stones are not the same shape and surface. This makes a possibility that every stone can give different symptoms. Most of stones can pass without any symptoms, some can give mild and nonspecific symptoms and some can give sudden strong pain due to ureter obstruction.
If you have had stones before, the risk this is another one is quite high.
Your back pain and butt pain does not have to be caused by this stone and its appearance could be just a coincidence. From your description this pain is due to spine or muscle issues indeed.
But it still does not rule stones out.
Unfortunately not being able to palpate your abdomen and perform some basic tests, its really hard to give precise diagnosis. So either way, if the symptoms will appear, please have urine analysis and abdominal ultrasound done.

What about the other symptom, which is actually the one that has persisted. I'm so focused on it, it's hard to tell if there's really a problem or self induced.
And I have never had a kidney stone and always drink alot of water with pale urine

Brief Answer:
Urethra irritation.
Detailed Answer:
Urethra tingling simply means that something is irritating this structure. It can be simple bacterial infection (even if its much different than the previous infections) or stone/tiny stones. Not much more other issues can cause such tingling. So we still stay at the same point that the urine analysis is a good idea.

If it seems to be more in the vaginal area, could it be simply an irritation? I've been cleaning the area alot. Could it also be over focus? There's times, when I've been distracted, that it seemed to dissappear temporarily
Brief Answer:
Frequent cleaning can be the reason.
Detailed Answer:
Cleaning can be a kind of injury causing inflammation similar to bacterial infection. So this can be the reason for sure. Focusing on symptoms can aggravete it indeed. But not cause it. If you are certain washing can be the reason, you may wait and see few more days. Try to use some globuli with Lactobacillus bacteria.
