What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Feet With Tremors In The Hand?

default
Posted on Mon, 17 Oct 2016
Question: This morning, my right hand fingers are shaking slightly when I keep it flat with palm facing upwards. I have also experienced slight tingling sensation in the feet.

20 days back, I experienced slight muscle spasms (about 4-5 times in a day) in my left knee ( and less frequently in other parts of body) and the local doctor asked me to take
Neurobion forte tablet (one per day) for 7 days. After completing the course, I felt the spasms occuring at my left elbow in the middle of the night yesterday.

Do you think both these symptoms are related? Should I take any multi vitamin supplement? In the past 1 month, I have substitued one of my usual meals( chapati) with sprouts, bananas and cucumbers.

Could this be a sympton of low sugar?

My weight is 55.6 kgs and height is 173 cms.

Brief Answer:
you need to get clinically examined and investigated thoroughly ..

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, Welcome back to HCM,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern,

Yes these symptoms could be inter-related and can be due to Vit B-12 deficiency , however several other possibilities can be there (starting from hypocalcemia, benign muscular spasm like fasciculations, stress induced tremor, over-exertion and several others)..

No it doesn't appear to be related to hypoglycemia though..

your BMI is fine as per your age, why did you substitute your meal with sprouts ? was there any specific reason behind this ?

Have you undergone any preventive health check-up yet ? If yes then please let me know the reports/ upload the here so that I can take a detailed look at it..

At this moment, before considering any further supplementation, I'd strongly suggest you to get yourself thoroughly examined by an Internal Medicine specialist/a Neurologist (whomever is easily accessible for you), clinically and get a few relevant investigations done (CBC, Electrolytes, LFT, KFT, FBS, PPBS, Vit B12 and Vit D3 level) to look in to it further..this will give a clear picture in this and management can be done accordingly..

Don't worry, just follow these and let me know how you stay in the due course..

Kind Regards

I started eating sprouts, cucumber and bananas as I felt that they are more healthier than rice/chapati.

Can you prioritize the list of tests based on my condition so that I can take a few first ? Also can you confirm that this condition is treatable and won't be a serious or long time health problem?

I also observed that spasms occured below my right armpit today.

Brief Answer:
follow-up consultation..

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, Welcome back,
Thanks for following up with the details,

Of course, sprouts, cucumber, banana all are healthy, but you need to have proper source of carbohydrate also (which can be obtained from rice,/chapati, so don't omit them, you can replace the regular wheat/flour products to whole grain/brown rice instead), so have the rice/chapati as well as sprouts, cucumber, celery, bananas etc.

All these tests actually comes under a single comprehensive and preventive health check-up plan only (which is always better to have, as most of the time it is actually included in your company's health check up panel only, so try to find out if it's there for you too), also it's always better to have them at one go as these not only reduce trouble of multiple sampling at different times but also generates better results by a comprehensive approach (simply because all these are variable parameters, thus when getting them done together, yields better outcome).. I hope it's understood now, let me know any further doubts..

As of now, it's nothing too serious, so don't worry, but you do need to get yourself physically examined by the Internal medicine specialist/ a Neurologist, whomever is easily accessible for you, to get the diagnosis for the same (several reasons are there as per those descriptions, as I've already mentioned, which can only be ascertain after a thorough clinical examination and those relevant investigations)..

So, I'd encourage you to take them all together for the obvious reasons as already mentioned along with the thorough clinical check-up as this is necessary..

Don't worry, but don't delay too long and get yourself properly examined by the Internal medicine specialist/ a Neurologist, whomever is easily accessible for you (along with those investigations) management can be done accordingly based on the findings..
