Question: Hi, I am 48 years old female who started having tingling and numbness on my left leg and arm that would come and goes. Recently I started having cramps on my left arm and leg with some weakness and heaviness on my left leg. This afternoon I started having a strange feeling in my calf with weakness and nerve irritation. I started to walk and I am able to walk but the feeling is strange. I recently lost my father and has had some anxiety and depression so I am not sure if my symptoms are related to this issue or not

Brief Answer:
You need detailed neurological evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist and would try my best to help you.

I have noted your symptoms and they point to a neurological disease. You need a detailed neurological examination, followed by investigations to arrive at the correct diagnosis.

The possibilities are: 1. Pinched nerve in the back due to slipped disc, 2. Reduced blood supply to right side of brain, causing left sided weakness.

MRI scan help in confirming the diagnosis.

These symptoms are unlikely to be related to stress.

I hope it helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries.

Best wishes,

Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)

Hello,
Thanks for your reply. I forgot to mention some of my other symptoms that I have on left side of my body. I have muscle weakness and stiffness on my left arm plus twitching. On my left leg I also having cramps, weakness, twitching that gets worse when I use the muscles. Since yesterday my left side of face started to twitch a couple of times yesterday. My left side reflexes are hyperactive. I am concerned about ALS at this time. What is your opinion in this subject please?
