Question: Hello, For the last week or two I have noticed a tingling feeling in my left pointer finger in the tip- it does come and go - Any ideas what this could be? It has normal coloring and temperature - not swollen or painful just a dull tingling- Very worried here

Brief Answer: No worries, compression symptoms, See Dr if persis Detailed Answer: Hi and thanks for the query, Lack of any pain , swelling nor fever are reassuring. However, a few precisions could be useful for a better understanding. Is this the very first time you are experiencing this? Is it experienced only one side of the body? Any recent notion of trauma or illness? If you have not had any of these, no serious need to bother. It is imperative to consider your sleeping position lately, or the activities you have gone through lately. It is not rare that when a certain sleeping position is adopted, or any particular activity, that causes compression of certain blood vessels that reduce blood flow to a particular region of the body like fingers, such a tingling funny feeling could be experienced. This however is usually very short lived. I would strongly suggest you just stay calm, avoid any compression around this area and watch very carefully. The fact that there are no color changes, pain or swelling are reassuring. I really do not think its something serious. Persistence of such symptoms within a couple of days or intensification and onset of new symptoms should warrant a proper medical consultation. Other wise, at this point in time, you need not worry but stay calm. A massage around the affected finger could offer some relief. Dr Bain
