What Causes Tingling And Redness On The Tongue?
Question: Hello there,
I have something that is unusual for me. The tip of my tongue is very red, about the size of a flat strawberry slice. Very tender and tingling. In the past 5 days I have had a UTI and took Cipro for 2-3 days, stopped last night as the side effects sucked! But I do feel better from that now. However, this tongue thing has me puzzled. I did have some type of infection (or so it felt like) underneath a front tooth bridge about two weeks ago, but that went away after a couple of days, without medication. Definitely have stress in my life right now, and liver numbers are a bit high due to my champagne fetish and lack of exercise (they frown on Pilates in the boardroom) but otherwise I'm a very healthy middle aged (that hurt to say!) woman. Any idea what this tongue thing is about and how to fix it?

2. It is usually due to infection. This infection may be viral, bacterial or fungal. Get a throat swab and rule out a Strep Throat.
3. Take B Complex Vitamin supplements, adequate fluids, bland diet, avoid alcohol and use an anti-fungal mouth paint.
4. Glossitis is common and should subside, sometimes even without active treatment.
