default
Posted on Wed, 22 Nov 2017
Question: I have been getting dizzy and sometimes fainting. I will feel a strange tightness going across the back of my neck and shoulders and then get dizzy. If I dont sit down on the floor right away, I pass out. Sometimes it takes over 20 minutes before I can stand up and get to a chair or just crawl to my bed. Last ime it happened I took my blood pressure and it was 70 over 55 with a high pulse rate of like 135

on the 27th it happened and I took my blood pressure it was 85 over 46 with a pulse of 68 I have no idea why this is happening and it is scary

previous to that reading before I laid down because I was dizzy it was 74 over 43 with a pulse of 69. I have just had surgery for bladder cancer on 9/6 for the 3rd time since 2014

Brief Answer:
Supportive care and dose adjustments

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Dizziness has many causes. In your history of low blood pressure , this is likely cause. Hypoperfusion and low supply in brain can cause this fainting and dizziness episodes. You need to adjust the dose of atenolol as that is the cause of this dizziness too. In nutshell low blood pressures due to atenolol are causing this dizziness which will respond to dose adjustments. Also with three surgeries for bladder cancer , weakness and asthenia is common and that fatigue may play a role in dizziness as well. Good nutritious diet, exercise, adequate fluids intake will help. Consult your local doctor and let them adjust the blood pressure meds and give you some symptomatic relief for dizziness.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
