Question: My 18 year old son woke up this morning with tightness and edema in his hands! Fingertips, and door sum of feet. He is not overweight. Only known allergens are seasonal. Gave him some Benedryl a few hours ago. Any ideas of etiology. How long before antihistamine response.

I am so sorry to hear about what your son experienced. This is probably and allergy. If there is anything new in the home, please try to keep it away. I am happy to know you started Benadryl He should feel better within 4hours and swelling would regress significantly with 12hours. Make sure you administer this drugs as recommended which should be 2-3times in 24hours.
