What is sweeping? Nothing has been apparent in the way of moisture or lump.
I have no history of fever and over the months I have lost a few pounds, but attribute that to loss of appetite. I have been having this pain for maybe two or three months. The only surgery has been a pelvic floor reconstruction about 2003. It is throbbing some today, not too much but a constant thing.

Brief Answer:
Please consider these possibilities

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your reply
I am sorry It was just typing error it's not sweeping but swelling?

Looking at your description and your age this could be due to weakness in abdominal muscles which cam lead to inguinal hernia
Throbbing pain in groin can also develop due to atherosclerosis or arterial disease
At times swollen lymph node may present like pain in groin region

Since I can't physically examine to get more clue about exact diagnosis, I wound advise you to consult a general surgeon for physical examination like checking for cough impulse.

You need not to worry, it's a treatable condition and you will be alright very soon
Best wishes
