What Causes Throbbing Pain In Left Ear?

Question: I have a throbbing pain in my left ear fir few months now . It just starts suddenly mostly daily . Its lasts a few seconds and continues throughout the day. What can this be?

I am sorry to hear about this pain that you have described. from the description of your symptoms, this is suggestive of a nerve related pain. Given the description, trigeminal neuralgia is the most likely cause. These are severe electric like pains that last a few seconds, disappear and keep a dull feeling all day. This can happen several times in a day.

The first thing to do would be to consult an ENT specialist to make sure there is no other possible disease process in the ear that can explain these symptoms. If al is cleared, then examination and treatment for this condition would be strongly considered.

In all, nerve related pain and probably trigeminal neuralgia. First, rule out other possible causes from the ear by consulting an ENT specialist.

If these pains come as a shock and last a few seconds, they are very suggestive of a trigeminal neuralgia. If this is not the case, then it may be something else. The best way forward would be to get the ear examined by an ENT specialist and get every possibility investigated for the diagnosis to be made and managed accordingly.
