What Causes Throbbing Pain In Buttocks And Thighs?

default
Posted on Wed, 27 Aug 2014
Question: Hi, a few days ago, I was experiencing strange stinging throbbing (cramping) pain on my buttocks and back thighs. I took Advil, yet the pain was still there. I had such cramps in my legs, that the past few nights, I haven't been able to sleep. Today, I don't feel it in those areas, yet, the same strange stinging throbbing (cramping) pain is now in my upper inner thigh area. Again, I took Advil, the stinging cramping pain ... still there. Feels like its in my veins ... what is going on?

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that it will be very difficult to me to give you a diagnosis based on this .But still we can discuss the probabailities.

First Vitamin D levels , Vitamin B 12 levels should be done as there deficiency can present like this . Since you are getting muscle cramps calcium levels should be done .

Since you report some kind of numbness it will be better if you get and MRI of lower back as at this age we get osteophytes which pinch the nerves which leads to this numbness as you are reporting. But first of all see a physician as examination will be the most important thing to do as after that only we will be able to establish the patter of neurological involvement if any .

Take care.

Dr. Shruti
