Brief Answer:
Throat pain or irritation could be viral or bacterial infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Welcome to health care magic,

Majority of cases throat pain are due to viral infection, but in some cases it is related to bacterial infection (streptococcal pharyngitis) or reflux esophagitis (person who is having acid reflux problem) as you are also having gastric problem.

We differentiate the cause through routine blood counts,ESR with throat examination, pharyngoscopy to rule out non infective causes.

Therefore it is advisable to see the doctor. Preferably you must see an ENT specialist for complete medical history including history of sensitivity to antibiotics and thoroughly clinical examination.

You might require antibiotics (to prevent superinfection if cause is viral) with analgesics, anti-inflammatory, decongestants and nebulization with steam inhalation 2 to 3 times a day.

In the meanwhile you can start warm salt water gargles which will also help.

If you have still any query then feel free to ask me.

Regards,

Brief Answer:
Treatment depends on the underlying causative agent.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for the follow-up,

If your throat pain is due to some sort of infection then with proper antibiotics and symptomatic treatment,it will get cured.

If the cause is allergic then avoidance of that particular allergen like dust, cold, pollens is the best way to stay away from this.

You should consult your family physician for complete medical history and thoroughly clinical examination for proper treatment. Ear nose and throat specialist can also be consulted.

If underlying cause is related to stomach, then you should see general surgeon after rule out of infective or allergic factors.
