What Causes Symptoms Of Lichen Sclerosus, Red And White Lines On Penis?

default
Posted on Wed, 30 Sep 2015
Question: I have white lines and patches of skin in the tip and lower part of my gland.
I've had them for the past 5 years. They have spread lightly over the years. There is no redness around them and they don't itch or hurt in any way.
The texture is a bit rougher than the rest of the skin, but only more noticeable when it's flacid. Sometimes I can peel them with my nails after I wash with blue soap (bar) (they don't peel dry, it's not dry skin).
I don't know if related, but they started when I used a condom with saliva inside 5 years ago as a masturbation method. I've been tested for latex and I'm not alergic.

Also, I am a virgin, so I doubt it's some kind of STD.

In the pictures there is a part of redness which was caused by tearing of the skin under rough masturbation and the red part is the new skin that was formed when it healed. That part of redness stands between the penis head and the white lines on the shaft, which before the tearing the whie lines were continuous from the head to the shaft

Should I be worried about these white pachtes of skin? (Sorry about the huge ammount of information, but I wrote everything I remembered
From what I read on the internet, it's similar to Vitiligo or Lichen Sclerosis Atrophicus (And I don't have more patches on the rest of the body)

Brief Answer:
Seems to be lichen sclerosus

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
welcome to healthcaremagic
I have gone through your history and seen the attached photographs. According to me it seems to be a case of lichen sclerosus et atrophicus but I would recommend you to consult a dermatologist to get it confirmed clinically and if required by a biopsy.
Meanwhile avoid contact with soap and urine.
I hope to have answered your query.

How bad is it ?
What can it lead to, if left untreated?
What are the usual treatments applyed for this sort of case?
Are there any homemade treatments to be considered ? (I would really like to avoid going to a doctor)

Brief Answer:
Details below

Detailed Answer:
It can lead to various complications like ulceration, back pressure affecting the urinary tract, narrowing of urethra and urinary retention but the most serious complication is cancer of the penis which has a risk of 2-9 percent.
Treatment options available are usually high potency steroid like clobetasol propionate cream , liquid nitrogen cryotherapy and testosterone propionate ointment. If medical treatment fails then surgery may be indicated.
There are no homemade therapies available for it.
I still recommend you to consult a dermatologist .

Dr Asmeet
