What Causes Swollen Sore Vagina After Having Intercourse?

Posted on Tue, 28 Jul 2015
Question: Hi my boyfriend and I had sex yesterday and after my vagina felt swollen and sore. It just feels sore now. It's been a year and a month that my boyfriend and I have been together and we've done it a lot. I'm on birth control and I've been very dry so we have been using a water based lubricant to help out. The soreness has happened occasionally and yesterday after sex I went to used the bathroom and there was spotting like light pinkish blood it was very slight. My boyfriend doesn't have an infection and I don't have an STI'S because I donate blood and if I had one they wouldn't allow me to continue donating. I've had a yeast infection before a couple years ago due to a wet bathing suit. But there is no odor or discharge it's just sore. My boyfriend and I were both virgins before we started dating and we just clicked we were curious and so we had intercourse. I haven't been able to do much about this besides just take it easy on sex and not do it for a few weeks and then when we try again it still has soreness. I don't think it's rough sex. My mom doesn't have health insurance do to her crappy job so I'm unable to see a gynecologist. We started using lubricant because I've been dry and we wanted to try something new because sometimes it gets boring and i have to force myself in the mood because he has a way higher sex drive than I do. So how do I change all this?

Brief Answer:
vaginal abrasions...due to frictional injury during intercourse

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
thanks for the query to hcm,

The fact that you have sex with your boyfriend after one whole long year it is likely that due to inadequate foreplay and lubrication, there may have been frictional injuries in the vaginal wall which have been the cause of soreness here.
This may be often accompanied with brownish pinkish discharge in case there are cervical erosions sometimes , but in your case it is more likely to be due to abrasions.
Usually these abrasions tend to heal naturally in 7-10 days without any medication , just that repeat frictional injury in form of intercourse has to be avoided. iF IT DOESN'T AS IN YOUR CASE THEN YOU MAY APPLY VASELINE petroleum JELLY inside the vaginal wall twice a day for 5-7 days and this should help heal it sooner. Water based lubricants generally dry up very fast and are not effective.

Nextly , if you are experiencing dryness, then you both should spend more time during foreplay before actually resorting to intercourse, this shall help you lubricate better naturally and improve your sexual desire as well.
