What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes In Groin Area?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Aug 2016
Question: I have a nail fungus on one nail on my right hand. My right side groin area has a swollen lymph node. Could the nail fungus cause the lymph node to swell up and be very tender?

I examine my nails on hands and feet daily and am working to keep fungus spreading.

Brief Answer:
No!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about swollen lymph node in the groin and the fungal infection that you have mentioned. I have reviewed this information fully and for sure it cannot explain a swollen lymph node in the groin. The area of this infection has no connection with the groin area and as such cannot represent a possible reaction at the gland following a spreading infection. Do you have any other possible infection on this left leg? Nail fungus is impossible to explain this swollen groin. We must look elsewhere for possible clues as to what is happening.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask of more information and clarifications if need be.

Brief Answer:
Infections arethe most common cause!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this follow up question.

Lymph nodes are like a group of soldiers. When they feel aggressed by an infection, insect bite, wound, etc, they increase in number. These the most common causes of swollen and painful lymph nodes. Others include chronic diseases such as tuberculosis, cancers, etc.

For sure, a tick bite can cause this as well.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further worries.
