What Causes Swollen Glands On Floor Of Mouth?

default
Posted on Thu, 28 May 2015
Question: About three weeks ago I woke up with swollen glands in the floor of my mouth. Later that day, swelling went down a little but my lingual frenulum became swollen and painful and then the swelling and pain moved on to the whole bottom of my tongue. (All in a 24 hr period). This pain hung around over the weekend and it went away but a little swelling in my glands hung around but not painful. Yesterday I woke up with the swollen floor of mouth glands again and I knew what was coming. Swollen painful frenulum in which pain moved all the way on to bottom of tongue. That's what I'm dealing with this morning. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Your clinical history is suggestive of Sialadenitis .

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.

I have read your query , reviewed your medications and understand your concern.

Your clinical history is suggestive of Sialadenitis (inflammation of a salivary gland). Mostly Submandibular & sublingual gland. If I were your treating doctor , I would advice to do investigation like ultrasonography (USG) Neck with salivary glands to confirm diagnosis .

Till then use ,
Antiseptic chlorhexidine Mouth Wash twice daily ,
continue anti inflammatory ibuprofen thrice daily after meal &
Antihistaminic Fexofenadine (Tab Allegra) at night .

You will get relief .

Hope this information helpful to you. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.
